🧪 BAS (Breach and Attack Simulation)
We reproduce real attack scenarios to measure, with numbers, how well your defenses work. Ongoing verification based on the MITRE ATT&CK framework strengthens your cyber resilience.
What is BAS?
BAS (Breach and Attack Simulation) safely reproduces attacker techniques to measure, on an ongoing basis and in numbers, how well your defenses work.
A penetration test is a one-off, focused evaluation. BAS automatically runs hundreds or even thousands of scenarios based on the MITRE ATT&CK framework and checks in real time whether your defensive tools (EDR, SIEM, SOC) actually detect and block the attacks.
It is ideal for organizations that are not sure their security products really work, or that want an objective evaluation of their SOC’s detection capabilities.
- ✦You have deployed EDR or XDR but worry about missed detections
- ✦You want to check the effectiveness of your SOC and security monitoring on a regular basis
- ✦You want to check the coverage of your defenses from a different angle than penetration testing
- ✦You want to measure how well you can withstand ransomware and APT attacks
- ✦You want to show management the return on investment (ROI) of your security spending
What BAS gives you
Safe, non-destructive simulation
Hundreds of attack techniques run without stopping your systems, keeping the impact on production to a minimum.
Visible EDR and SOC detection rates
For each scenario, we check whether your EDR, SIEM and SOC detected, blocked or raised an alert, and score the result to reveal blind spots.
Automatic reports and recommendations
Defense score, detection gaps and improvement priorities, with an executive summary for management and a detailed report for technical teams.
Real-time verification
Real-time tracking of scenario execution and detection results, which is also useful for training your security team.
Orchestrated attacks
Multi-step scenarios that reproduce every phase of an APT attack: reconnaissance, initial access, lateral movement, data theft and C2 communication.
Continuous improvement cycle
Regular simulations to track the effect of improvements and the maturity of your security.
Vulnerability assessment, penetration test or BAS?
| Criterion | Vulnerability assessment | Penetration test | BAS |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frequency | 1 to 2 times a year | 1 to 2 times a year | Continuous (monthly or weekly) |
| Goal | Find vulnerabilities | Show that an intrusion is possible | Measure how well defenses work |
| Automation | Partial | Mostly manual | Highly automated |
| Target | Applications and infrastructure | Targeted systems | EDR, SIEM, SOC, firewalls |
| Deliverables | Vulnerability list | Evidence of intrusion, impact simulation | Defense score, gap report |
| Impact on production | Low to medium | Low to medium | Minimal (non-destructive) |
How a BAS engagement runs
Interview on your environment and goals
We review your security tools (EDR, SIEM, SOC, etc.) and your evaluation goals, then design suitable scenarios.
BAS agent setup
We install agents in the environment under evaluation, with safe settings that keep the impact on production to a minimum.
Scenario execution
Scenarios based on MITRE ATT&CK run automatically, and detection and blocking are recorded in real time.
Defense score and report
Defense success rate by technique, detection gaps and improvement priorities, in a two-level report for management and technical teams.
Improvements and continuous evaluation
We tune EDR rules and SIEM alerts based on the report, then evaluate again to check the effect of the changes.
